Name: Lady Herenya, also known as Renya/Henny (etc). Herenya means "wealthy" or "blessed" in JRR Tolkien's Elvish language Quenya. I chose this as my Elvish name in August 2004, and have answered to it ever since.
About Me: I'm book-oriented, internet-addicted, must-have-music-playing. Not the world's most unusual combination, I'll admit.
I love writing, reading, quoting, procrastinating online, and talking about any of the above. I've been accused of having little interest in the real world - and what do you think I write about...?
I am a rambler, a writer, a talker. I’m shy, a daydreamer. I think too much. I’m creative, analytical, obsessive. I'm a procrastinator - time and I don't always agree. I'm humanly inconsistent.
I’m unique, like everyone else on this planet.
Currently I'm at university (Bachelor of Arts - literature and so on) and wishing it wouldn't interfere so much with writing.
I would love to just write books for a living, but suspect being an unemployed, aspiring novelist shall not be so appealing when I have to pay for my own broadband.
Hobbies: reading; writing stories; blogging; watching films; procrastinating (especially online); listening to music; watching and creating fandom music vids; acquiring books; online communities; website design; photography; creating cards calendars wallpapers and etc; doing crazy things with my friends; talking about any of the above...
Favourite expressions: My motto tends to be "If you are going to make a fool of yourself, you might as well do it properly."
Computer stuff: Henrietta (iPod mini). George (laptop). Djaq (freeagent go harddrive). Windows XP (irritating). Flock (photobucket intergration). Media Player (works with last.fm). VLC media player (plays all regions). PaintshopPro7 (hehehe). Freecell (addictive).
Favourite books:Pioneer Women, Pioneer Land: Yesterday's Tall Poppies by Susanne de Vries-Evans.
I read too much fiction to have just one favourite, but Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre and Dorothy Sayers' Gaudy Night come very close. I love fantasy, historical fiction, mid-1900s murder mysteries / science-fiction / romantic suspense, fantasy, time-slip novels, fairytale-retellings, young adult, and fantasy. I love The Lord of the Rings - I'm a Ringer and proud of it. I like The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter very much, and I've read Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. If I started to list the books I couldn't live without I'd be here all night... I'm a compulsive reader.
Favourite Authors: Like with books, I really read too many to have favourites... Jane Austen, Nina Bawden, Charlotte Brontë, Isobelle Carmody, Jasper Fforde, Anne Fine, Catherine Fisher, Catherine Gaskin, Diana Wynne Jones, Robert Jordan, M. M. Kaye, C. S. Lewis, Joan Lingard, Deborah Lisson, Melina Marchetta, Ngaio Marsh, Robin McKinley, LM Montgomery, Michael Morpurgo, Sally Odgers, K.M. Peyton, Tamora Pierce, J. K. Favourite TV Shows: I don't watch much TV but... Doctor Who, Robin Hood (2006), Life on Mars, Red Dwarf, Torchwood, Rain Shadow, Spicks and Specks, The Gruen Transfer, Thank God You're Here As for adaptations, I love Jane Eyre (1983), North and South (2004), Emma (1996) and The River Kings
Favourite music: Moya (Maire) Brennan, Clannad, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Sarah McLachlan, George Winston, Josh Groban, Hayley Westenra, Cindy Morgan, Plumb, Tori Amos, Poets of the Fall, Vienna Teng, Bond, ES Posthumus, Weird Al, the Beatles, Don McLean, Jim Croce, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, JS Bach, Gabriel Faure, etc...
I listen to celtic, soundtracks, classical (but not opera), choral and a Capella, some comedy, and other random artists. I tend to fall for slow, quiet songs with minimal backing and sad lyrics. I listen to music all the time. I have an excellent memory for music and lyrics, and since my brain likes to play things on repeat, I try to listen to music that is less irritating when I wake up with it going around my head at 3am.
I'm very good at talking about myself (or rambling on, rather). I love quoting books too - or anything else that comes to mind! That just about sums me up.
But chances are you knew most of that, anyway... (especially if you have read my ramblings!)
